The Boarding School Advantage

Aerial

It doesn’t seem too long ago that naughty kids were sent packing to isolated boarding schools across the globe to have their behaviors ‘corrected’. Images were conjured up of darkened hallways deep within Gothic, ivy covered  buildings whenever one mentioned the term: boarding school.

Nowadays, however, instead of finding forlorn students that have been sent far away from home, boarding schools consist mainly of students who themselves have chosen to find the best education available. More often than not, a boarding school is where they are finding the most cutting edge, twenty-first century education.

In North America, there are well over 200 boarding schools. The top schools have unrivaled facilities, a specialized and dedicated teaching staff, a plethora of innovative courses available and an abundance of opportunities. Day, charter and public schools would have difficulty in matching the state-of-the-art facilities and the myriad of choices available to students at a quality boarding school.

Not only is it the facilities and the array of choices that set many boarding schools apart, it is the innovative teaching and the experiential learning that comes with a boarding school preparatory education. Being independent entities, boarding schools have the resources and the vision to step beyond a traditional curriculum. Students are exposed to courses and teaching methods that could rarely be found in day schools. Not only this, a boarding school education goes well beyond the classroom. The 24/7 setting allows for a culture of innovation, creativity and specialization throughout the campus.

So while you consider the next step in secondary education (private or public), consider the boarding option. You may well be blown away by what can be offered by these schools. The new generation of boarding schools are unrivaled in what they can offer and, to be frank, are giving many students an advantage in life skills and academics.

Boarding Schools are the new cool.
