Want to be ready for college? You can’t do better than boarding school
Our colleagues over at The Best Colleges do a nice job of producing infographics about the collegiate world.
Not all of their pieces connect with our work at AdmissionsQuest. But, a recent infographic, “Redefining College Readiness,” falls squarely within our topics and advocacy.
“Redefining College Readiness” strikes me a case for so much of what boarding schools do well.
Using the question, “if so many college students face remediation when arriving to college, what are the practices and experiences that they need before college in order to be successful without remediation?”
The practices and lessons that lead to success in college come straight out of the traditional boarding school playbook: reasoning, problem solving, analysis, math, english, science, languages, college admission guidance, time management and study skills.
The practices and skills that lead to collegiate success are the foundations of the traditional boarding school experience.
