A Guided Tour of St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School
St. Andrew’s-Sewanee School students Jacob, Joshua, and Charley share their thoughts and insights into what makes SA-S a vibrant, tightly-knit community.
To this observer, the strength and breadth of the SA-S student experience proves quite remarkable. The arts, sciences, humanities, and athletics all offer strong wide-ranging opportunities for students.
Jacob explores the academic offerings highlighting the science opportunities bolstered by the school’s new LEED certified science center which features rainwater recovery for campus use and a host of environmental science opportunities beyond traditional course offerings.
On the other end of the equation, SA-S features a broad music and visual arts program. Various orchestral ensembles, vocal ensembles, and the visual arts gallery all provide a spotlight for student works. The visual arts gallery draws visitors to campus and functions as a community hub for both professional and student exhibits.
Importantly, “community” comes up throughout the tour- in small family-style dorm life, in the arts, in academic, and, in the tradition of sitting on the Card House front porch- chatting with your friends, faculty, and whomever might walk by. SA-S faculty and students seem to relish in doing things with, and for, each other.
