Kildonan School is a coeducational day and boarding school serving students in grades 2–12.
Its mission is very clear:
It is to empower students with dyslexia by engaging and motivating them to discover their passions, exceed expectations, and believe in themselves: in essence, to LEARN TO LOVE SCHOOL AGAIN.
The campus sits on top of a hill and with a 360 degree view of New York and Connecticut hillsides with backdrops of green pastures, horses, cows. The fall foliage was absolutely beautiful. I feel that Ben Powers (Headmaster) has taken Kildonan faculty and students to a new high.
Each student’s Orton Gillingham (OG) tutorial is the most important class at Kildonan; it is, simply, part of a student’s regular academic schedule. Each session is tailored to specific needs of the student. Students work to develop the skills to succeed in academic endeavors, especially- reading, writing, spelling, and self-advocacy.
Athletics include soccer, basketball, skiing, lacrosse, tennis. Individual sports include horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, yoga, fitness and touch football. Extracurricular activities include daily skiing and snowboarding. Weekends include trips to local ski areas, trips to professional games, hiking, museum and movie trips, as well as camping excursions. It is a school you must see!
