South Kent School: Home For Deejay Brown

Good boarding schools excel at becoming home for students no matter the reason.

ESPN’s E:60 aired a story (E:60 Scared) about South Kent School student and basketball player Deejay Brown. The story hits on so much of what is good and right about boarding schools- structure, support, family.

As Deejay grows, works, and plays his way through SKS, the school’s support and opportunities mean the world.  Deejay and his family are working to overcome a horrific act of domestic violence and his stepfather’s incarceration for it.

Deejay is wise beyond his years when he tells the interviewer, “You can’t just keep a grudge all your life.  I have to move on with my life.  I got to forgive and move on…”

DeeJay now attends the Master's School in West Simsbury, CT, a Christian Prep School. He plays on the Varsity under Coach Ralph Auriantal. The Master's School took DeeJay in as a student, relying on God's providence to provide the funds for his education. The Student Athelete Ministry ("SAM") intends to promote the education of many youth who, like DeeJay, have faced various challenges in their lives. Coach A, as his players affectionately refer to him, takes a keen fatherly interest in his players, seeking to help them grow into productive men of integrity and compassion. The Master's School is located at 36 Westledge Road; West Simsbury, CT 06092
