I love the line about Marmite - because I have just had a book published about the stuff! It's: The Mish-Mash Dictionary of Marmite: an anecdotal A-Z of 'Tar-in-a-Jar'. I wonder if the school's International dinner will feature Marmite? The book has an entry about 'umami', which pin-points how the iconic spread has left its humble place on the breakfast table to fly high in the upper-echelons of fine-dining. I know, hard to believe. Though at the end of the day (and certainly at the beginning) you cannot beat a plain, straight forward, white-bread Marmite sandwich!
