Green Faculty Housing with Roots in Historic Homage
It’s interesting to note that in all of our reading and coverage we’ve talked about student green efforts and new school buildings, but until now, we’ve seen one example of green faculty housing at Cate School.
Here’s a second example at a boarding school.
Christchurch School, working with New World Home, aim to bring environmentally sustainable design & historical homage to new faculty housing on campus.
New World Home’s work aims to unify traditional home design with next generation green technologies and highly efficient modular manufacturing, resulting in what the firm terms “New Old Green Modular home.”
“A NOGM home is designed to provide 50% energy savings, save thousands of gallons of water per year, and provide a superior indoor air quality — all at an attainable price.” (NWHPR) With this entry into the boarding school market, New World Home hopes this partnership with Christchurch will “lead the way towards a sustainable future for America’s historic boarding schools.” (NWHPR)
Christchurch Head, Jeb Byers believes it important that the school is “walking our talk and living our mission.” (America’s Historic Boarding Schools Go Green With New World Home)
