Private School Tuition Insurance
Tuition insurance is a product that I had put out-of-sight/out-of-mind over the years. But the New York Times ran a brief conversation (What You Need to Know About Tuition Insurance) with “Mark Kantrowitz, an expert on student loans who publishes the Web site Finaid.org” (NYT) that merits mention.
While most of the conversation covers college tuition insurance, at least one of the issuing companies Kantrowitz mentions A.W.G. Dewar (Quincy, MA) offers boarding school coverage.
Not every every school offers tuition refund insurance and when they do, it’s almost always through a single carrier. However, if your student’s situation is unsettled or, if you think there’s some risk in your student’s life, you might want to consider tuition insurance.
In some schools, admission handles tuition insurance; in some schools, the business office handles it. A conversation with either one regarding tuition insurance will get you pointed in the right direction
