Gritti Brings World of Experience to Kents Hill School Football
Steve Gritti’s travels as coach through the professional and collegiate ranks have now brought him to Kents Hill School where he’s taken over as head coach. So how does a coach with professional and collegiate coaching experience come to Kents Hill?
Jim Smucker, Kents Hill AD told the Kennebec Journal (Gritti Brings Intensity to Huskies): “Networking…We had a mutual friend, a football AD from a boarding school in Rhode Island. And through networking, the match happened.” (KJ)
It seems that Gritti looks forward to community feel of Kent’s Hill. Gritti explained the move from college to small private school coaching this way:
“It was a quality of life issue,” he said. “I have no connection to here, whatsoever. I wanted to do high school football, but I wanted to do it at a high level. I wanted a place to come and have fun and coach football and be a part of a community.
I got tired of being at places where all everyone thought about was going to the NFL. It was all business. It was win or get fired. Here, the kids just enjoy playing football.” (KJ)
