Bay Area Boarding Schools Featured
Although titled, “Woodside Priory Keeps Boarding School Tradition,” this San Francisco Chronicle article covers more than Woodside Priory.
The fact that that 25-30+ years ago, the Bay Area was home to more than 10 boarding schools proved news to me.
Changing times means that the area is now home to just four Bay Area boarding schools, the established- Woodside Priory School (coed), San Domenico School (girls boarding, high school), The Athenian School (coed), and the newest boarding program, Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto.
Adapting to changing times, Woodside is now coed, the schools feature international student bodies, and Eastside’s boarding program provides a fully funded academic program to about 30 students who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford boarding school.
The Bay Area is quite a rich pocket of boarding school life. Even though it requires effort and expense Woodside Prior is committed to boarding education.
