ELL Summer Program

The Marvelwood School Offers Intensive two-week English Language Learners Summer Program, August 3rd - 16th, 2008

Marvelwood offers an intensive two-week English Language Learners (ELL) Summer Program for international students. August 1-14, 2010. This program is open to any student entering grades 8-12 in an American school for the 2010-2011 academic year. This program immerses students in the English language and culture, and prepares them for their studies in the United States.

The ELL Summer Program reflects the Marvelwood mission: to provide each student with a unique and creative educational experience that fits his or her own learning style. This “seminar” style of learning is supported by three classes through the day, two in the morning and one after lunch. Classes are offered at both the beginner and intermediate levels, and focus on hands-on learning and group interaction, with supplemental text and computer work. Afternoons incorporate interactive programs including art classes, outdoor sports and activities, small field trips, and visits to local historical and cultural landmarks to help students learn English “on the fly.” At the end of the program, a written summary of the each student's performance and progress is provided, and can be sent to their next educational destination.
