Aerospace Instructors Earn Advanced Certification
Three aerospace instructors at Randolph-Macon Academy have received an advanced certification, an honor held by only 14% of Air Force JROTC instructors in the nation.Three of Randolph-Macon Academy’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) instructors have received the Advanced Aerospace Science Instructor Certification: Lieutenant Colonel R. G. McManus, Master Sergeant Stephen Pederson, and Master Sergeant William “Doug” French. All three instructors are retired Air Force personnel. “Achieving this designation recognizes your superior professionalism, instructor skills, and adherence to AFJROTC standards,” wrote Col Debra F. Bean, Director of AFJROTC, in a letter to each of the recipients. “Fewer than 14% of all AFJROTC instructors receive Advanced Certification, you and your school should be extremely proud of your accomplishment.” Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational day and boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12. Students in grades 9-12 participate in R-MA’s 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) and have the option to participate in a unique flight program. R-MA is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in Front Royal, VA. ###
