History

The Gunnery, Mr. Gunn's School, was established in 1850 by Frederick W. Gunn based on the belief that strength of character was the goal of education. That belief still guides us today as a coeducational, independent day and boarding, college preparatory school for 300 students in grades nine through twelve. The 220-acre campus borders the village green of Washington, Connecticut, U.S., a small, beautiful, and historic town in the Litchfield Hills.

Considering Financial Aid?

Schools administer their financial aid individually. The keys to seeking financial aid are:

  1. Planning, including dedicating time to sit-down and work through the paperwork and process
  2. Communicating with the admission and financial aid officers at the school
  3. Completing the paperwork and forms early and accurately (forms and paperwork can differ between schools)
  4. Meeting the financial aid deadline (it's early).
