History

Founded in 1875, The Perkiomen School is an empowering experience that gives students the confidence to explore and grow. Our students have ambitious goals and high ideals. We provide each student with an experience uniquely combining opportunity and challenge, guidance and encouragement. Perk offers an engaging academic program and a world of possibilities in a community that feels like family.

Located in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, Perkiomen’s 172 acre campus is home to 360 students from 26 countries and 10 states. Classes average 12 students, 9 in the middle school, with a student to faculty ratio of 7 to 1. Perkiomen is 45 minutes from Philadelphia, 2 hours from New York City, and 2 ½ to 3 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Over 150 courses, including 28 AP and 8 Honors courses are offered in the Schumo Academic Center, Hollenbach Academic Center, and the Carnegie Library, which celebrated its Centennial in 2013. Courses include Spanish, Latin, German, and Chinese, plus popular electives from filmmaking to forensic science to poetry and comparative religions. As of 2013-2014 the iPad program was established to support teaching and learning and to expand opportunities for students to learn beyond the traditional classroom.
