Admiral Farragut Academy is a private school with day students in grades PreK-7 and day and boarding students in grades 8-12. Located on 35 acres in St. Petersburg, and established in 1933, Farragut has a long history of developing young men and women with exceptional character and leadership skills.
Farragut's core curriculum is academically challenging with additional, non-traditional courses in Engineering and Robotics (for grades 3-12) plus Aviation, Scuba, Naval Science, and Sailing (for students in grades 8-12). These unique courses incorporate hands-on, experiential learning including student-teaching and class-to-class collaboration.
Our five- and seven-day boarding students represent an average of 32 countries and 17 U.S. states, making us the most culturally diverse school in Tampa Bay. Every student--even Elementary--gains global perspective, exposure, and friends from all over the world.
Faculty and staff--many of whom live on campus--are dedicated mentors in the classroom, on the athletic fields, in the library during weeknight study hall, and on weekend excursions.
Our boarding students are extremely prepared for college life because they have already learned to live with roommates, manage their own time, and become organized, accountable, and respectful. Both our day and boarding students learn what it takes to be a leader as they rise up the ranks in our Naval Jr. ROTC program. View our Academic Profile of recent awards and college acceptances.
Our alumni include two of the twelve moonwalking U.S. astronauts (Shepard and Duke), as well as national leaders in the areas of finance, business, politics, philanthropy, and entertainment.
