Review Guidelines

AdmissionsQuest school reviews function as a legitimate resource for families and students researching independent schools. Posting a review is limited to students and parents/guardians who attended or had a student attend the school within the last three years. Our goal is to have reviews provide feeling and insight into the school experience. Each reviewer is limited to one post at each school.

To insure appropriate tone and content, we require each author to adhere to the following guidelines:

Consider the review questions

AdmissionsQuest will not post any statement containing a threat of violence against a person or any other remark that would tend to be seen as intimidating or intends to harm someone. AdmissionsQuest maintains final editorial control over all submitted reviews. Reviews must evince appropriate tone and content. All submissions become the property of AdmissionsQuest which reserves the right to determine publication.

The Linsly School is the oldest college preparatory school west of he Allegheny mountains and the only school of its kind in West Virginia. The original school, known as the Wheeling Lancastrian Academy, was founded as a coeducational institution in 1814 through a bequest by former Wheeling mayor Noah Linsly. By 1840, females were absent from school. In 1876, Linsly became a military institute. In 1968, Linsly moved to its present location and by 1979 had shifted from its military emphasis to embrace a college preparatory program. Coeducation was restored in 1988.
