History of the School

The Delphian School was founded in 1976 by a group of educators and parents concerned about the decline in the standards of American education. Delphi uses the innovative study methods developed more than forty five years ago by American educator and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard. These methods are recognized worldwide as a breakthrough in education, and, with them, students develop the confidence and knowledge to tackle the most challenging subjects independently.

Delphian School Choir Achieves 3rd Place at State Choir Championships
On May 1, The Delphian School Varsity Choir participated in the OSAA State Choir championships in the 1a/2a Division (schools with enrollment from 1-235 students). This was the 13th consecutive appearance by the Delphian School Choir.

The choir sang "Prepare the Hymn" by Georg Frederic Handel, a bright celebratory piece accompanied by Christine Perpelitt. This was followed by "Three Australian Bush Songs" by Iain Grandage. This is an extended work in three movements that paints a picture of the outback. The three sections are entitled "Dawn", "Birds", and "Sunset". The second movement featured Curt Pfeiffer, who helped create the mood with a didgeridoo. The concert closed with a Jonathon Quick arrangement of the Scottish folksong, "Loch Lomond." This featured solos from tenor section leader, Austin Chen, and soprano, Megan Price.

After the concert the Delphian School students were escorted to the sight-reading room where they are tested on their ability to read music never- before seen. The Delphi choir demonstrated their competence in this area, an ability which they worked on developing during regular rehearsals throughout the year.

At the awards ceremony the top 4 choirs were announced. The Delphian School students were very pleased to receive the 3rd place trophy. Director, Craig Bader and Choir President, Jeremy Moll went onto the stage to receive the trophy to the cheers of the choir.

"The choir worked very hard to get to this point,” said Mr. Bader. “The OSAA State Championships offer an opportunity for our students to work hard to achieve a standard of excellence and artistry. It is an honor to be acknowledged with a trophy and be considered one of the best choirs in the state."
