History of the School

Cushing Academy was founded in 1865 to provide young men and women with an education that prepares them for a lifetime of learning. The oldest coeducational boarding school in the United States, Cushing has been an inclusive and affirming school community throughout its history. Helping students discover the full range of their talents and interestes is at the center of everything we do,from the classroom and residence halls to the playing fields and extracurricular activites.
