School Profile

Verde Valley School History

Verde Valley School is located at nearly 4,000 feet near Sedona, Arizona, USA. Surrounded by the Red Rocks of Coconino National Forest, Verde Valley School is an International Baccalaureate World (IBO) School and a college preparatory boarding and day school.

VVS is one of a few US boarding schools that is an accredited IB School. Our graduates attend the most selective colleges and universities in the U.S. and throughout the world. All students in grades 11 and 12 take IB classes at VVS.

Founded in 1948 by Hamilton and Barbara Warren, VVS was built on their dream: "If we bring together talented young people from around the world and ask them to build and to study, to work and to learn, we can change the world for the better." VVS continues to live this ideal, today.

The strong IB program at VVS is complemented by a world-class outdoor program (including rock climbing, mountain biking, English and Western horseback riding, hiking and camping) as well as a fine and performing arts program long known to be among the best in U.S. boarding schools.

VVS is home to 125 curious and tenacious adventurers - 48 percent are international students, and the rest come from other U.S. states including Arizona.

Here, inspired by the beauty of Sedona and with a strong faculty (nearly 60% have advanced degrees), students build strong academic skills, discover their individual talents, experience diverse cultures, and form life-long friendships with teachers and peers.
